If you’re not making billionaires become trillionaires, WHAT THE FUCK IS THE PURPOSE OF YOUR WORTHLESS LIFE?¿

    Get back to work.

I love it. Here I am, a being. Living. Breathing. In a trippy dreamlike existence. Does materialism bring consciousness? Does consciousness create a world for itself? Nature all around me. Fascinating patterns in the micro and the macro. The beautiful sound of the ocean. The intrigue of the mountains. The solitude of the desert. The sun. The moon and the stars. Space. Friendship. Language. Community. Given all that, how amazing it is to work a shitty job for a shitty boss during this incredible experience of being alive in whatever the fuck all of this is. I’m ALIVE. Hear me roar, void. Hear me and see me, witness me use my limited time wisely writing nonsense reports, creating spreadsheets, and working unpaid overtime. Witness me cherish the wonder of the world by sitting in an office all day, returning home in stressful traffic, and having no time for friends and family. This is it. This is why we exist. I love it.

Can someone explain me how pensions work? Isn’t that some sort of 401k that is tied to the company and you lose access to when you switch companies?

I have a 2% pension. So, every year I work at this company, they add an additional 2%. When I retire, I will get paid that percentage of my salary for the rest of my life. It will be based on what my salary is at the time I retire. So, if I work there for ten years, for example, I’d continue getting paid 20% of whatever my final salary is after I retire.

It’s called “taking control over your life” and it has the cumbersome effect of giving the illusion that one has control over one’s own life. A common phrase would be “If you just worked harder you wouldn’t be so poor.” There is solace in the power over one’s own life, so much so that people ignore that this power is getting eroded day by day. Because admitting this is very scary, even moreso if one has people depending on them.

I liked my original Mac too, but certainly missed the deluxe keyboard and two-button mouse. :S
