Likely no-one had subbed to it on beehaw, then.
Opening a community as the first user on a given instance triggers initial federation, after which it starts off empty. After a moment, the posts will federate, but even then you wont see correct past votecounts.
If you subscribe, future content will properly federate over to your instance.
