Protest actions like ‘Hands Off’ and ‘No Kings’ are sweeping across the US. But the media are barely paying attention
When hundreds of thousands of Americans gathered across the US on 5 April for the “Hands Off” events protesting Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s governmental wrecking ball, much of the news media seemed to yawn.
The next day, the New York Times put a photograph, but no story, on its print front page. The Wall Street Journal’s digital homepage had it as only the 20th-most-prominent story when I checked. Fox News was dismissive; I stopped counting after I scanned 40 articles on its homepage, though there was a video with this dismissive headline: “Liberals rally against President Trump.”
Because our media is owned by Republicans.
Look at the owners and the party they belong to.
All Republicans.
Billionaires.
All owned by billionaires.

Democrats are just nicer billionaires. Difference, but same.
Not only that, but they also just love having a circus monkey at the pulpit. More people are tuning in whether you like or hate trump, it doesn’t matter to them or the advertisers.

Wow, this seems very achievable
Sustained ans resistance are the keywords here. We’re talking general strike and occupying your state capitol’s (or DC’s if you can get there) city square for weeks, not a slightly angry parade like the ones we saw in April.
Not always true. The Berlin Wall fell so suddenly that no western intelligence agency predicted it. The rest of the Iron Curtain countries fell over the next six weeks, with fairly light defense by the governments.
Exactly. We need real direct action focused protests that actually resist what is happening, as in directly impede the effort of this administration in achieving its goals. Bring the gears of this nation to a halt until our demands are met.
Which means we need real organizing efforts, a federated group of organizations from across the country getting together, to discuss what those demands are and lay the ground work that will allow those resistance efforts to be sustainable.
Nearly 10 million would be required.
Easy. Those are rookie numbers.
Which is about 12 million Americans.
JFC it’s not rocket science why. It is because the people that own the news media are the same billionaires that own Trump and benefit from him and his minions.
Some media are scared, other media are complicit.
Additional explaination: “Republicans” severed ties to supporting the constitution and obeying US federal law in order to “own the libs”.
This has lead the unabashed worship of certain ‘party franchise’ holy relics:
Gold or Bitcoin. Weapons or Power ‘items’. Anything symbolizing ‘status’.Party-wide the observed results have been:
Wanton disregard for self control of: Emotions. Impulses. - instead traded for brutilizing others to cathartically exercise their agressions and murder fantasies.
Deification of certain symbols of their vaguely conceived order of society: i.e. The president. The military. The police.
How they “owned the libs”:
This was accomplished through aliances with the anti-intellectual cults of anti-vaxxers and of the remnants of the Nazi party, various other cults, and non-democratic nations run by previous enemies of the nation they claimed allegiance to.
With the repeal of citizenship for any dissenter (all continental inhabitants with the exception of whatever gender, skin color, religion, social status they deem ‘official’) the power of the “nation” somehow becomes unilaterally “republican” in which they revel in their collective fantasy of a “homogenized” society (some attempts to rationalize this view liken it to a return of the 1950’s value systems, when “certain people” knew their place and everything was allwhite - er alt-right - eh alright.)
All of this, of course, counters actual reason, but don’t get in an altrication trying to impart knowledge. Because it has been readily observed that when a “republicans” world view is challenged, they resort to screaming and/or physically beating the challenger to the best of their ability.
So the “non-citizens” currently trapped in the “bar room with the creepy-grandpa waving the gun” are attempting to convey a desire to return to reason and accountability, but the “republican” party is currently pre-threatening violence on most of the continent for “non-citizens” in order to attempt to ward off the “evil-spirits-of-world-view-challenging”.
So honestly this sucks. It’s all f*cked up right now. No more 'Murica. No more USA. Just another set of a**holes with a disposable mindless armed force and nuclear capabilities waggin a thing around yelling at people to touch it or else.
I listen to a bunch of media everyday but it’s not like we have a platform to share it with each other. Like if I found a decent Sam Seder clip, where am I posting it?
