It’s not because we’ve tried to do anything horrible, but I think we need to be cognizant of what it might mean for other opportunities. And when I say opportunities, I literally mean sleep and eating and moving around the room and looking at somebody in the eyes.
What is it that we are really looking for in the infinite scroll? How can we expect anyone to want to seek hope in earnest anywhere else? It’s as if hope must be reimagined in a new form of community almost

I’ve learned, since reading his stuff, that some books are heavy-handed with hypnotic-trance-induction technique ( “Ten Types of Human” by 1 author, & the books by “John Braddock” on thinking, risk, & strategy, as other examples )…
Keeping a population-of-consumers deep in hypnotic-trance means their independent-will won’t/can’t interfere with institutional bleeding-of-their-lives…
That’s really all it comes down to.
Also, beating a population into learned-helplessness means they’ll just accept all the escalations that one heaps on them, endlessly…
Those 2 principles underlie most of the strategy of our new media “reality”, nowadays.
Sad, but testably true.
