Yeah. A big undercurrent in the movie is Leon taking on Mathilda in a father/daughter relationship, but Mathilda has aged under her abusive family relationship to where she sees Leon as a knight in shining armor instead of a father figure.

Which is a plot point then used to excuse away the fact that they have an underage Natalie portman taking instructions from a pedo behind the camera. I’m hoping you’re not, but I’ve seen people use that to say it was ok in the context of the movie. Like, gross.

I get that, but it’s unfortunately also an excuse for a lot of people

Edit: the story could’ve still been told, we could’ve still heard about her trauma and how it affected her, without resorting to pedo shit. That’s the difference between a good director and a pedo who happens to be directing

Just avoid the non-American version. It is a movie written by a pedo, for pedos. Some comes through still but apparently it’s not nearly as bad.

Seen it once, never watching again personally.

The American version is called “The Professional”. Leon is the weird pedo version.

Still has enough pedo vibes to make it hard to suggest this film to others. Sucks, because outside of that it’s a good movie with great acting from Oldman. Kind of like how Irreversible is also an excellent movie, if it weren’t for the 9-minute long uncut/realistic rape scene.

        Must be a French thing?

Helps that oldman even stepped in for a couple of the scenes to protect the young actor and be like “yeah no I’m not doing that and neither is she, write it out and do something else.”

Gaspar Noe, the director for Irreversible, is also French. I just meant, “I guess the French really like to get saucy in their art.”

do you think a young girl from a broken household like that wouldnt be…weird…with strong protective figure like leon showing up?

leon doesn’t take advantage of her or anything, shoots down all her advances, the “relationship” is always protrayed as clearly unhealthy and something leon doesnt want

granted, i only watched the english version

I thought the same thing after seeing the American version, it just seemed like a understandable case of a childhood crush that Leon reacts to with equally understandable awkwardness.

Then I watched the director’s preferred version. It’s pedo bait and he’s a legally proven pedophile who “married” a child he met when she was 12 and who was pregnant and married by 16, end of story.

Someone suggested a movie directed by a pedophile with pedophilic elements. I simply gave a warning for others that haven’t seen it. Reddit and Lemmy seem to have a hard on for this movie (wonder why), so when I watched it I was surprised, uncomfortable, grossed out, and wondered HOW this could ever be recommended by anyone not a pedophile. The two different movies thing MIGHT be important for those of us that maybe want to watch the movie, but also aren’t pedos.

Really not hard to put 2 and 2 together here for anyone literate. The REAL question is: why are YOU defending a pedo movie so much? Are you ACTUALLY a pedo, retarded, or, all of the above: a magat?

I like the scene at the end where she tells other children in class what she did over the summer, and the teacher called it bullshit…

This movie was ruined for me when I realize luc Besson is a pedophile and his desire to fuck little girls is in all his movies. Leon being the most egregious. Go look at the BTS photos of Besson constantly hugging and touching Natalie Portman, creepy as hell.

Sixth sense as well, when you realize Leloo is essentially an infant in an adult body that everyone wants to catch and fuck.
