minus-squareWorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.todaylinkfedilinkarrow-up6·19 hours agoGdamn it. I use plain ellipsis all the time, and I was worried people would take it the wrong way, and now I’m anxious I might be causing someone anxiety!
minus-squarechunes@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up3·6 hours agoI truly don’t give a fuck. They can pry the ellipses from my cold, dead, millennial hands. If youngsters aren’t thoughtful enough to give grace to different generational styles, I hope they do get offended. How many of us let boomerisms slide all the time? It’s fine.

minus-squarekreekybonez@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkarrow-up3·18 hours agoI always read ellipses as if the speaker is trailing off in a condescending, disappointed, or sarcastic tone. “if you think so…” “that’s a great idea…” “we definitely need more snacks in the house…” It doesn’t make me anxious, but it always seems a little rude.
