PSA: Not every commie is a tankie
Honestly, no one could do it justice. But I agree it would deserve a great adaptation
Yes, this is wildly stupid. But also it’s a local independent retailer according to the article so I feel less hostile towards it
Thanks for the reply! That makes sense. I’m still weary of the client somehow losing the cache while the server is down (two holes in the Swiss cheese lining up) but that is overly paranoid I know that
You say you use Bitwarden. Is that self hosted by any chance? If so, how do you handle the potential for an outage or server failure, where you’d presumably need some of the passwords to fix the problem in the first place.
I don’t mind paying for the past and future development of a service I enjoy. Transcoding is an essential feature for me. While it’s a free feature of the processor, developing software support for it took effort. Other services provide that support for free, but Plex bundles it with other features they charge for. I think that’s fine. As I see it my money goes to support the full experience, from wide app support and good UI to Plexamp and other fun and useful side projects. In fact in a way I am subsidizing much of the experience for free users. Again, I don’t mind, as long as it means Plex’s development and maintenance continues.
I don’t get why people get so tribal about this. I think it’s great Jellyfin is a free and open alternative and if that works for you, fantastic!
Honestly, the insistence that Lemmy has better discussions than Reddit. Mostly even popular posts have too few comments to constitute any in depth discussion. I won’t be going back to Reddit but I miss the vibrancy.
After the first season, which was an obligatory “Star Trek Type Show Finds Its Feet” season, it really hit its stride to become the best Star Trek since DS9. Not in name, but certainly in spirit. So earnest, with a great message throughout. Sure it had some mediocre jokes here and there but so did TNG, let’s not forget. I was sitting around just the other day thinking how I missed watching The Orville
I can hear the mind creaking under the weight of the cognitive dissonance
Geez. The question isn’t whether communism is a good idea. It’s whether every communist is a Russia-supporting tankie. They’re just not. Some recognize Russia’s imperialism for what it is
