When I buy something made in the country, I know that the workers had a certain protection, minimum wage, social security and that stuff. Sure I can buy these things a lot cheaper from other countries where workers are exploited more, but I think it is worth considering who you support through your purchase.

Also, stuff produced locally doesn’t travel as far, which is also worth considering from an environmental perspective.

Technological progress reduces the amount of work required to perform certain tasks. In any just system, this would improve the lives of the general population, either by reducing the amount of work required to make a living, or by increasing the amount and range of products and services.

If technological progress does not do that, and instead makes the rich richer and the poor poorer, the problem isn’t technological progress, but the system in which it is applied.

I have certainly put a lot of time into things without achieving the outcome I initially hoped for. I don’t think any of that was pointless though. All these experiences made me who I am today, each girlfriend or job that didn’t end up working out made me learn something about myself, each failed project taught me something, if only to be patient and deal with frustration.

I try to think that life is all about the journey, and not always arriving where you set out to go is what really makes it interesting.

I feel like the term “Incel” has developed somewhat. I guess in the beginning it was used by men struggeling to get into a relationship to refer to themselves. It was used to find others with the same issues, and form a kind of self help group that could provide comfort and maybe even inprovement. If thats what incels were today, they wouldn’t be hated like that. Perhaps they would be belittled or made fun of.

But that’s not what we understand incels to be today. Incels now seem to be extremely bitter, delusional, pathetic individuals. They don’t recognize the issue lies with themselves, instead it’s supposedly the fault of the women, who won’t accept their place in society. In the mind of an incel, they deserve to have sex, and that means that it should be a woman’s duty to please them.

So no, you are probably not an incel, even if perhaps you would have been under the original definition.

Maybe find another student and gift something together.
