  • I like to do similar with recipes and songs. Find something I like the sound of and make it then you know all the vocab for cooking related things. With music I find a band I like and listen to an album until I know the words.

Another good one is watching sports in the language you are learning. It’s quicker because you can often infer what words are by knowing what just happened in the match. I find this a bit of a more natural way anyway. I appreciate that may not be easy for every language though.

  • I posted this on Reddit back in the day. Use a plastic bag if you don’t have the right plunger. Bad for the environment, good for unblocking clogs. Stick a toilet brush inside the bag, a bit of air is good. Secure the top with an elastic band or whatever, you can even use the bag handles tied. Shove it in the toilet and use it just like a plunger, the bag should form a full seal at some point, might take a bit of trying/wiggling but the bag will eventually get a seal because it is variable size/volume. If you are not getting the seal you need you can shove your hand in the bag, it’s nasty to some people but in honesty there is nothing touching your hand but the inside of the bag. You can force a seal this way. Now pull. Done. No need to call anyone.

  • I think a lot of Americans, at least in this thread feel like this would be linked with Christian wackos. In Europe we have Christian wackos but they are not the same as the ones you have and are far fewer. It’s much more likely that people who hate on a minority are under educated and/or poor. It’s also much less of a sides thing, we don’t have the Christian wackos (GOP) vs “the rest”. Most countries have some sort of proportional representation, so there are Christians in all groups, the Christian wackos are more dilute. That’s not to say that they are non existant more that you can’t, for example, guess that these people were religious and probably be right like you might in the US.
