I think it’s difficult for outsiders to understand how bad things are getting in the US. It’s already a distopia for many, and it’s steadily getting worse.
Obsidian is awesome, and obsidian publish costs money but it’s very easy to use.
Are you physically active? If no, then I’d suggest taking up a sport. Whether alone or with others, physical activity is extremely important, and it can be a rewarding hobby.
If that’s already covered, then I’d ask: would you prefer to have a hobby that you do alone, or with a group?
For group hobbies, you can browse meetup.com, that’s how I found my table-top RPG group, and we’ve been having loads of fun together for…about 15 years now.
(TTRPGs are my favorite, pathfinder 2e is the best ever)
For alone hobbies, I’d say the most important aspect is stay away from the screen. Music is a common one, or another type of art. Painting can be extremely rewarding, even if you have no talent.
I like to do MOC lego projects. (basically, use legos to make your own creations) I build mecha out of lego technic and bionicle/star wars parts.
I read the article, and nothing in there seems to be a valid criticism of Kagi as a search engine. It’s all about the founder not understood GDPR, or how Kagi wasted money on free t-shirts, or the writers personal opinion on AI.

I’d use Obsidian Sync too if I used Obsidian across devices. I just back my vaults up in the cloud.

I saw Emmanuelle when I was 10 or so, and man did that movie change me. Some scenes still pop into my head, clear as when I first saw them.
I’m talking about AI. However, the statement I made wasn’t very well informed. Others have shared with me how the printing press did indeed give rise to fears about piracy, and create entirely new discussions & problems related to intellectual property.
The analogy doesn’t work. The difference is that this “printing press” is stealing massive amounts of creative work and calling it its own, and using massive amounts of energy to do so.
