look up carplay, it’s a specific car UI run from your iphone.
some blocks of known VPN ip addresses are flagged by services. so circumvention by vpn can be hit or miss.
obviously nothing is literally “free”, that’s a trivial point to make. operational funds have to come for somewhere. The point was there’s no additional cost to the reader (that they aren’t already paying for) to get news from those sources and they don’t depend on ad revenue or data monetization to make a profit.
npr and associated press are free and not for profit.
But it will never replace physical instruments for me
FOR YOU (and for what it’s worth for me as well). Meanwhile many more people will be introduced to music creation than they otherwise would have due to there being many more ways to do it now. Stop being a gatekeeper.
I think most people in here are overthinking things. The simple fact is all the low hanging fruit apps were created a long time ago. There just isn’t much left to do with apps anymore, particularly from an independent developer perspective. So what you have now is a bunch of new developers recreating the wheel trying to make a buck with ads or tricking people into subscriptions after a free trial.
as a projector owner myself, i would not say “so easy”. they are a lot more work to set up, are more unsightly in living spaces, require light control, require more maintenance and cleaning, and even after all that the picture quality is still never going to approach a decent HDR panel. It’s only really worth it if you need/want a 100”+ picture, otherwise you’d be better off with an 85” TV.
even if it was free apple would probably find a way to break it.
this is why I wait a couple weeks. what is the point in updating to 12.5 if 12.6 is just a few days away.

weaning off fossil fuels completely is going to be a long complicated process. for now we will need to use fossil fuels to build greener infrastructure.
huh?
I disagree with the author. It’s not like scientists today are robots who only study in their field and have no interest in arts at all. With the quantity of scientists in existence you’re going to get a vast array of varying interests outside their fields. I fact I would say many people are inspired to become scientists by arts such as science fiction; we don’t need formal education as priests or monks to have “mystery and wonder” as she puts it. Likewise with artists, there are lots of artists who are interested in and inspired by science.
Secondly, as knowledge progresses it’s necessary that we specialize more, or at least some of us do. It takes an entire lifetime to get to the root of today’s scientific mysteries, which was not the case 200 years ago. All the low hanging fruit has been picked. So again, dedicating a significant portion of a scientist’s life to religious “magic” is only going to be detrimental to that cause.
