YouTube is pretty bad. If I’m watching a video at 1.5x, it remembers this setting for the next video, so the same courtesy should apply to the ads. Avoidable in a web browser for now, eventually I’ll just have to youtube-dl anything I want to watch.

I really hate that California dropped all new shower heads down to 1.8 gpm. I feel very alone in this outrage. People are flying around in private fucking jets, and you want us all to take one for the team and suffer a shitty dribble of a shower every day. A generous hot shower is one of the few things that makes our lives far better than our great great grandparents. Taking out the flow restrictor is like having sex without a condom. A whole generation of suckers won’t even know what they’re missing.
I hate ordering a beer in a restaurant and it comes in a shaker pint (conical pint), which is usually a 13 oz pour. How can we have a government who verifies the measurement of fuel pumps, but not beer, when beer costs like 15x more than fuel. Fill lines are a simple, cheap, and good solution.
I hate metering lights. For those who don’t know they’re stoplights on the on-ramp to an interstate highway. Waste of fuel, don’t help with traffic.
I really hate advertisements. It seems the more I block them, the more offensive they are when one gets through.
Big ice cream figured out churning is a pain in the ass. So now they just whip it and freeze it in bulk. It’s not the same product at all.
My friend from high school, very smart, got a technical Bachelors degree and then became a circus performer. Figured it would be for a few years max but it’s been 15 and they’re still at it.
Python is hacky, because it hacks. There’s a bunch of ways you can do anything. You can run it on numerous platforms, or even on web assembly. It’s not maintained centrally. Each “app” you find is just somebodies hack project they’re sharing with you for fun.
Self hosting is glorious when it works, and a bit frustrating when it doesn’t. I’m using Emby, and I just finished upgrading from an arm 32-bit, to an Intel N300. It was working great until I relocated the new server to a different location. On boot the USB hard drive was just barely working but super slow. Not sure what the issue was, but it’s working after changing USB ports.
Billionaires. They need to be taxed to pay for their externalities, including healthcare and climate change, and poverty too. There’s no way to earn $1B from labor, it must be stolen from the labor of others.
Election fairness. Ranked choice voting, equal access, federal holiday to vote, overturn citizens united, eliminate electoral college, statehood for all citizens, redraw districts by geography, not demographics.
Bodily autonomy as a constitutional amendment. Covers abortion, assisted suicide, tattoos, drug use, plastic surgery, vasectomy, and any other voluntary medical procedures.
Investing in society. Education, healthcare, transportation, grid-scale clean energy storage, environmental health and remediation.
Me too, but for me it depends on my weight. My current and long term normal weight is 178 lbs. Any lighter and I get shakey and light headed when I’ve gone without eating for 3 hours and go on a walk. Above this weight, no problems.
When I hiked the PCT, I dropped to about 160 lbs, and I had to eat with urgency every 2 hours. Newborn babies also eat on this schedule. It makes me believe humans can only really process and store food for 2 hours and beyond that you start pulling reserves. This was also how I felt training for a marathon. I don’t care how fast you can run but it’s not healthy to do it for more than 2 hours. For me this was a half marathon.
A nice concept for art, but I feel bad for the person after which it’s named. It was maybe funny at first but this poor dude can’t catch a break. So yeah maybe a new name, just hyper art? No need to bully this baseball player and his family for being useless.
It depends on the laptop. My old Thinkpad had a removable battery, and it actually ran fine without the battery installed. My Surface Book 2 has a completely broken battery stuck at 0%, and there’s basically nothing I can do except run it off the wall plug until the batteries start expanding and prying apart the computer.
Those animals didn’t suffer though. Presumably.
It’s fairly common for closed tubes, and less common but not too rare for open-ended procedures.
Yes 1.5 years ago. Not bad but I do have dull ball pain if ejac frequency is greater than every 48 hours. Not a big deal for me approaching 40. But overall would not recommended to anyone in their 20’s or early 30’s with a high libido.
Serve Robotics, Coco Delivery, Nuro AI. Just a few examples. Eventually you’ll be able to order from Target and they’ll let you know when the drone is parked in the street. You walk out and get your stuff and it drives off. The cost of the vehicle decreases as well as the vehicles mass when you remove all the human occupant safety stuff. Future personal delivery will be wheeled drones.
I’m a gifted atheist. It has nothing to do with god. It means I didn’t have to work for it - I was born with the genetics for it. Some people are gifted aesthetically. Others with intelligence. Others athletically. Some are gifted musically. Genetics is real. If you are given something at birth, it’s a gift. A gift from your ancestors and parents.
I dislike money. I worked hard to have enough that it’s not on my mind. I don’t need to think about the cost of eating out or buying food, or pursuing hobbies. But I also don’t really spend much. I don’t make big purchases very often and when I do I still over-analyze them.
If I had a lot more money I could retire, but I still have half my life to live. I hope to retire in 16 years. I have a job that pays well, with good job security, and minimal stress. I get 38 hours of leave time per month and I live in California.
I have cash savings earning enough per month in interest to pay my cell phone and home internet bills entirely. But I don’t really have any other discretionary monthly subscriptions. My savings will probably be used on a new kitchen and bathroom eventually.
I did that in the middle of the day on an empty highway and I actually got caught (aircraft). The ticket was for 113 mph and I lost my license for 6 months.
I don’t speed anymore but it’s not for fear of a ticket. Actually I just found that being in a hurry was flooding me with cortisol, and I decided that you can’t control traffic, only how you react to it. I’ve been driving like an old man for like 15 years and it’s a lot more chill, barely slower, and a bit safer.
Readers are not smart. They are trained on data with license plates, and I doubt their training had license plates with extra characters on both sides.
It varies by state and there are no laws that say it needs to be machine readable. It only needs to be human readable.
It’s probably not possible at this point. If there was some kind of revolution, poor people could have access to healthcare, education, shelter, and food. You know, basic dignity and hope for a better future. But the problem is that hopeless wage slaves are better for capitalism.
