It’s just the same attitude as people who claim it’s not really reading if you’re using an eReader. Some people get weirdly elitist about books and reading

I don’t even know if I agree with that tbh - I’ve yet to see anything that actually shows that AI voiceovers can replace human ones. Oh they can make realistic speech, but they can’t voice act. A voice actor isn’t just a person who reads a script in a monotone, they’re an actor.
AI will probably eventually get good enough to understand the context of the dialogue and add the appropriate inflections and such - but nothing today comes even close
. But I doubt anyone would care if you stood up to stretch your legs 30 mins before landing
You’d think, but apparently people are picky enough about what others do to care that they stand up shortly after landing, so who knows
Yeah and while I’m sure it is useful for minimizing outrage at controversial changes, it’s mainly to prevent rolling out major bugs to too many people
boarding first isn’t a privilege really
It is on southwest, since there’s no unassigned boarding. I’m a tall dude, and I always pay for early boarding so I can get myself an emergency row seat
Yeah, popular music - by definition - is going to have a broad appeal, and pointing out major problems with our society is always going to be at least a bit divisive, especially when the issue is split in party lines
Some other people really let Apple live rent free in their heads lol
Dissappear? No, of course not
Fall out of repair, and be unable to be repaired effectively without tools, resources, or knowledge that are no longer accessible?
Abso-fucking-lutely
Take a deep sea oil rig. How long do you think it’ll be operational without maintenance with all that sea water? After not too long you won’t be able to repair the damage without serious industrial capabilities, and that’s assuming you even know how to fix it.
Really even as relatively little as a few decades of total chaos and disorganization would be enough to make crawling back really hard. A century and more and it really could be impossible, or at least improbable - especially given that the humanity that comes out of the other end of the crisis is the same one that got us into it. So the remaining pieces of major valuable infrastructure left will probably get wrecked as the survivors fight over them
Sounds like fusion power lol
True, but Its 100% possible for us to get knocked back into the iron age, and if that happens, there’s a very real chance we won’t be able to climb up again.
Easy to access sources of a lot of the resources needed to rebuild a modern civilization are gone, the only reason we can get to the remaining deposits is because we already have the advanced equipment to extract it. It’s entirely possible that if we get knocked back down the tech ladder, we may never climb back up again
Some people will worship anything Bethesda puts out, even when it’s mid at best
It’s one of those things that sounds dumb at first glance, but actually has a lot of sound reasoning behind it, read up on it more if you’re interested
Yeah, I agree it’s pretty cringy, but I don’t see how anyone else is negatively impacted by some lonely souls using it
And idiots going to the ER because they didn’t wear their seat belts just raise premiums for the rest of us (or increase the tax burden in countries with socialized Healthcare)
my property is now worth 5x what it was worth when I bought it… in today’s money. Adjusted for inflation, it’s not nearly as much
Are you under the impression that the US dollar has 5xd from inflation since the 90s? Lol
Seriously, I don’t know what reaction you’re expecting here - if you’re finding that being a landlord is a shitty way to make money, then… Stop? Sell the apartment and invest in something else instead of whining about how badly landlords are mistreated lol
Yeah, but they were brown doctors and children, so it’s OK
Edit: did I really need a /s?
It’s pretty wild how many people in this thread (and in general) don’t see youtubers as a business selling a product.
Its great if you want to buy stuff from your favorite content creators shop, but the shop is there to make money. It makes money for their business. What do we call it when a business goes out of their way to show consumers their products in the hopes that they’ll purchase something? an advertisement. This isn’t something debatable lol, it’s literally the definition of the word.
Its awesome if you wanna support your favorite content creators, it’s totally OK if you don’t personally mind seeing their shop below the video, a simple toggle would let you keep that. But an ad is an ad, and people are right to be frustrated that they’re being shown ads when they specifically paid extra money not to be shown them.
This isn’t an ad. It’s just an opportunity to purchase something
I really hope this is satire, but I honestly can’t tell anymore lol
At least for my wife and I, the practical conversations all came before, by the time I proposed, we were already both in agreement about how we would handle finances, kids, etc. The actually proposal absolutely should be romantic, because it’s not “I have suddenly decided we will marry, we’ll figure it out from here” it’s “I’m now ready to take the big step in going from planning to spend our lives together, to actually committing to do it”
There’s plenty of room for both romance and practicality, and having a romantic proposal certainly doesn’t exclude having practical sober conversations before hand
As always, people who just hate change in any form - combined with the depressingly common outlook that if you don’t personally like something, it must be objectively bad
