There is the old saying that “People don’t quit jobs, they quit bosses.” My advice is to go to therapy first, I think the question will sort itself out after that.

I’ve had a lot of luck joining a run club, but there are other activity based clubs. The trick to these though is that you need to keep going to them for a while before you really start becoming friends with people.
What’s really worked for me was working as a snowboard instructor on the weekend. I’m not saying do that specifically, but finding a second job based around teaching is an amazing way to meet other people who like meeting new people and being nice and sharing their skills and experiences. I should specify, the people I meet are other instructors. I’ve also met some people at events, like when I got my avalanche rec 1 cert.
The most infuriating part of it is all the white trim. Go ahead, build a house no one can buy, but at least make it look tasteful. I mean come on!
So I have not watched the video, but I have read the book Burn by herman pontzer. And it seems that the body makes up for it in other ways as described in other comments. But your body can and will burn more calories than your normal amount if you do lots of exercise.
The example used in the book is a study the author did where he tracked the calorie usage of people running across the US. They were burning a ton of calories every day (and eating a bunch too). And somehow over the course of this ultra marathon thing, people actually started burn less calories as their body adjusted to the load.
But yeah, do lots of exercise and you’ll feel tired and conserve energy. Do a ton of exercise and your body will burn lots of fat.
I think there is something about fake videogames that really gets the imagination working. It’s like you’re putting together the pieces of a puzzle, but you have to make most of the pieces yourself.
Does the JVM count?
I was trying to mention things that weren’t just web browsers. Since it seemed the comment was about programs that use more ram than they seemingly need to.
Edit: There’s like photogrammetry and stuff that happens on phones now!
Is this bait? Because like, you could be rendering, simulating, running virtual machines. Lots of stuff that aren’t web browsers also eat ram
A stoic though that helps me more than “man up” is asking myself “what harm will come to me?” In stoic thought we’re the only ones who can harm ourselves through the misuse of our impressions. We often know how we should act in a situation, but we don’t want to because of some perceived harm or discomfort. But since the stoics believed the only real harm was moral, we’re only hurting ourselves by not acting virtuously.
Will I hurt myself more by action or inaction? Through inaction what kind of person will I be? What will I lose through inaction?
College towns usually mean that the town doesn’t have any identity outside of the college. In some ways that’s nice, because you have a big community right there. But in other ways the town won’t really do anything without the college.
Sorry it’s been a really long week and the brain worms are getting to my language center…
Wow, “treat cops as if they are criminals”
That’s a piece of advice I’ll share around
Can you forgive yourself for feeling like he won? What sort of compassion can you feel for yourself in this situation? What kind of compassion can you feel for the person who blocked you?
I would go for a run or sit and journal a bit. Write or think out exactly what happened. Then I’d let myself know that it’s okay to be feeling this way. Now this is a chance to better myself, because i want to try to be better than this. I then try to widen my context. It’s not just me, it’s not just me and this rando on the net. This is a small part of all of humanity right now, and it’s time to make humanity better, even it’s in a small way that only matters to me. Maybe next time I can try to make it better for more than just me.
I’m not so sure it’s their hearts, those are full of blood. It’s more like a system that incentivises people to make immortal decisions for profit.
Why not synthetics? Sure they smell worse than wool, but a synthetic fleece is very warm and will stay warm even when wet, and will dry faster than cotton.
I think it’s worth getting into, but you will quickly find authors you like and ones you dislike. I think the worst part of reading 40k is that you’ll find a book you like, but it isn’t a part of a larger series. For example hellsreach, or rin’s world.
Maybe watch some YouTube videos about the setting first to see what interests you about the lore, and then start with books about that.
Yeah autocorrect was fucking with me, it didn’t like codices (but I spell like shit)
Just to give things some scale, the longest book series in WH 40k is the hours heresy. It’s 60+ books. And that takes place in the 30th millennium, so it’s just background to current times lore.
There are more than 300 novels to read, and that’s just counting novels. There are also codexes (codecies?), other supplementary books, other game books (like dark heresy), and the many issues of the white dwarf magazine.
How absurd must Kirby lore be then?
Yeah and we’re keeping Wozniak as long as we can!
Stop referring to myself as old…
I feel like you’re getting pushback because your definitions. Do you think you could define, open source, free, libre?
Why does software licenced under the gpl not fall under open source? What problems do you have with the OSI’s definition open source.
