I don’t trust Uber either.
That’s cool. Where at? I mean, I haven’t seen any taxi in a place I’ve ever visited with an app.
And then there’s the issue of knowing what app before you get there, or just trusting the sign on the side of the taxi, and subsequently the app to not farm your data.
Thinking about this… I wonder if the fediverse could be used for an “open source” app, to then hail and track a taxi in whatever area you’re in…
Of course adoption would be the hardest part, but any taxi service could host their own server (even single driver operations) and anyone with an app that interfaces with the system could hail a taxi.
Privacy would be difficult, as, inherently you need to somehow inform the taxi where you are and possibly who to expect. And anyone in the system could potentially monitor anyone else.
I’d say that payments should be outright blocked from the system. Taxi should have to do that separately.
The only thing it has “over” taxis is an app instead of a phone call to dispatch.
Definitely realistic, just not as profitable for rich billionaires.
Yeah, make them out of metal, that rolls on metal roads. And those metal tires can carry a ton more weight, so put a lot of people in them who are going the same way.
Oh right, we already have those.
I’ve “heard” of the opposite more often than I’ve heard of this case, (outside of porn of course). Where someone figures out their partner is cheating, contacts the person the partner is cheating with, and they both devise to “dump” the cheater.
Though I agree, it’s also interesting to see reactions when people don’t initially understand, then think through it and realize what it means.
I have started unironically saying idgaf in sentences. Often when “fuck this shit” would fit as well. But fts isn’t really easy to pronounce, where idgaf is pronounceable.
I must have east coast birds, they start at 5am
Home assistant, and frigate. Along with whatever type of smart lock you choose (even building one with esphome, diy version)
Exactly…
Essentially.

Maintenance, transitioning into automation tech.
Yup. Though many people call it “Utah”

MooooooooooooooooooOOOOh
Depends on what you need.
I use my truck about the same as you. But get 13mpg towing, and 18 not.
1995 Ford 250 PSD.
It’s not comfortable, it’s not fast, it’s not fancy. But it’ll pull whatever I put behind it. Carry almost anything I will ever need to (definitely more than I want to physically unload), and it’s economical, and “future proof” in that I can modify in almost any way and still register without new diesel problems (high pressure pumps eating the entire system, def fluid and filter plugging, egr cooler plugging etc.)
Personally I’d say get an older diesel that is in ok shape that you can make what you need.
