You have any 2.4 GHz WiFi problems? In theory there is a problem, and I know a dude with a lot of ZigBee and a lot of 2.4GHz problems, but without going over with work equipment and spending some time doing work for free, I can’t be sure it’s ZigBee. It’s just my best guess.
You already married to ZigBee? If not, maybe don’t. It causes 2.4Ghz interference. You’ll need to think about WiFi channels and avoid ones that overlap with ZigBee. Either that, or use 5Ghz WiFi and repeaters to make up for the lower penertration (if an issue).
We have wins before, via groups like EEF. There are Pirate Parties and all kind of Right To Repair and digital freedom groups. The corporations don’t want us to fight or even have a voice.
Technical fixes only work for the technical and often it’s technically working against the law. We need the law on our side, not the corporations. So we need to engage with law as much as technology. Or we end having to break technologies like secure boot and laws.
This is the problem with digital serfdom, those lording it over us aren’t perfect either. Not only should we be able to connect our cars to our own server, we should be able inspect provided server implementation to see if it’s a bag of nails.
Yer it’s nonsense. The first device I switched from Ubuntu to Debian on was the SheevaPlug because Ubuntu dropped support for it. Debian still supports it now well over a decade later.

Of course owning stock in one Elon company compromises you judging another Elon company. You don’t even have to look hard to see how he leverages one for another. Or could if he hadn’t already. Not seeing it is done willfully.

I prefer no monopolies, but if it’s something that is a natural monopoly, I certainly don’t want it by a for profit foreign company.
Maybe the answer is to split these guys up by country and each government decides what they do with their chunk. We’ll see which works best.
Independent not for profits, straight up nationalised, private still(baby Bell), publicly owned and privately run, etc etc.
May I recommended watching “The YouTube Effect” if you don’t see the problem with big tech companies.
The app will almost certainly mostly be just wrapping a web interface. But this dedicated browser can provide the site with all the access of an app. The idea will be only this browser can be trusted to access this site and can check the run environment before connects. I’m they’d do the same on the desktop, if they thought it would be swallowed.
