If they don’t like cats because you can’t train a cat, and/or cats seemingly hate them, I consider it a warning sign they want people to obey them rather than exist with them.

Cats can’t be trained like a dog. So when people complain about that and don’t like them for that, I consider it a sign of “I want you to obey me, don’t question it.”

If Tankies were an actual voting bloc they’d be somewhat impactful for the first time since maybe 1949. That would imply going outside however.

Auth-Communists: “They claim to like freedom but still willingly use the capitalist forces to oppress who they like. Liberals are okay with personal freedom until it impacts the white moderates. That’s our job!”

Anarchists: “It’s literally weird to call yourself a liberal when all they do is oppose any movement against the status quo. If they can’t convert them to sell away their soul to the state or capitalism, they’re terrorists. They’re more like conservatives than any actual progressives, and even progressives admit 100% capitalism isn’t great.”

Libertarian capitalists: “They claim to be for freedom but constantly require the state to check in on if people are enjoying their freedom like that Nanny’s they never had. I just wanna grill for god’s sake!”

Like it’s just funny to me no matter where you are on the political spectrum, you have a somewhat decent reason to hate liberals (except conservatives are too stupid to tell liberals apart from “commies”).

It’s not inherently bad, it “fails” the Unix Philosophy of “Do one thing and do it well” but since Linux’s kernel is:

• Unix-like, not Unix
• Fails this philosophy, as it does more than one thing but does all of it pretty well
• systemd is just a bundle of tools that do one thing and do it well under one package, like Linux’s kernel

It used to be a mess, but that’s solved. The biggest reason to avoid systemd is mainly user preference, not anything malicious. 90% of current distros use systemd as its easier for the maintainers and package programmers to build for the general than each package and each distro having their own methods of how to do an init system and other tasks.

How Debian and Arch and Gentoo and Slackware and other big distros worked was different, and the maintainers of those packages had to know “Debian’s way” and not a general way that most places accept. Systemd actually solved the Too Many Standards! issue.

I’ve never really seen a big argument against systemd, but maybe I’ve just not heard it.

I used to say that “Once I leave Reddit I’ll have more time for my hobbies instead of looking at a screen about my hobbies” but I realized that:

• One website’s existence doesn’t solve or prevent a problem of my brain chemistry
• I already have a lot of hobbies and reddit introduced me to some, and most of those are offline.

I think the fact that Reddit imploded is good, it gave me an excuse to leave a site that I hated more than I enjoyed being part of it, for lots of reasons.

More or less that the idea of how the country that got Humans into space first eventually collapsed, but “modern capitalism solves all problems” can’t do the same tasks as well was 1950’s USSR, and that’s coming from someone who doesn’t like the USSR in general.

I think the idea is that “theft is not political”. Labor itself is not inherently political, but the fact that labor often not in a society that itself has unjust hierarchies is now political. The concept of “working at a task” is not political, but it can be.

That said, there’s one major group that cares about labor, cares about getting paid well, and doesn’t like people that steal money. And it’s sure as shit not the right wing.
