how can it both work by stealing stuff from the internet and not work? Does it work or not?

But not always. Which is incredibly annoying!

sbird@sopuli.xyzOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What if the idea of “life” and “intelligent life” is all relative?English21·5 days agoWow, I didn’t know what. Life probably is an “analog value”, since things like viruses exist where they don’t perfectly slot into our method of categorizing what is and isn’t life. This might be a question that will be asked until the end of time, what is life really?
sbird@sopuli.xyzto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•If we ask 100 random ppl to describe their ideal society, which real/fictional countries would the answers resemble the most?English1·5 days agoI am certain that it would likely be a mix of all of them. No country is this workd is perfect. One place might good healthcare and terrible infrastructure, or amazing tourist attractions and a broken economy, or hella fast trains and very expensive housing.
sbird@sopuli.xyzOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is there such a negative connotation with the poos of horses, bulls, and bats?English1·7 days agoHorses and bulls make more sense, English is a quite an old language. The diseases from bat poo sound nasty.

sbird@sopuli.xyzOPto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Why is there such a negative connotation with the poos of horses, bulls, and bats?English3·7 days agobut why specifically horses, bulls, and bats?
Well those get taken down by the big corpos, not really the developer’s fault. Really, the fact that they are FOSS mean it’s much easier to fix issues as lots of different people can contribute, and where you mention apps that get taken down and formed again is only possible with FOSS apps (i.e. forks)
FOSS programs that don’t involve piracy are perfectly fine though (libreoffice, inkscape, kdenlive, linux, among many MANY others), they all work wonderfully
