I have no idea, but I don’t follow how you got to that conclusion.
A regular trial is targeted at the judge and the jury if there is one. Most trials are long, slow, and most people wouldn’t want to watch them. The purpose is to find a verdict.
A show trial is designed to then take that verdict & the information from the first trial and repackage it in a way that appeals and is easily understood by the general public.
A show trial is a public trial in which the guilt or innocence of the defendant has already been determined. The purpose of holding a show trial is to present both accusation and verdict to the public, serving as an example and a warning to other would-be dissidents or transgressors.
Has nothing to do with the legitimacy of the verdict, it’s just a different specific type of trial with a different purpose.
Thank you.
So Vietnam’s courts must not normally be open to the public?

So it’s basically for show, or to show the proceedings to the public. A “show trial”, if you will.
