“A group of Republican lawmakers introduced a bill on Wednesday which would send “any person convicted of unlawful activity” at a college or university, to do community service in Gaza for six months.”

“Strangely, the bill appears to refer to any “unlawful activity on the campus of an institution of higher education beginning on and after October 7, 2023” but does not specifically mention the ongoing student protests, rendering it stupidly broad.”

"Ogles spoke with Fox News about the bill, saying that, “If you support a terrorist organization, and you participate in unlawful activity on campuses, you should get a taste of your own medicine. I am going to bet that these pro-Hamas supporters wouldn’t last a day, but let’s give them the opportunity.”

Nevermind that there are several human rights groups, news organizations, medical responders, international aid etc. that would like to be in Gaza but are being denied. This reeks of sending people protesting terrible conditions to suffer in those conditions.

If this is real … man … the United States has really embraced using torture and the threat of torture … from the local police departments all the way up to the federal capital.

We didn’t even need to get invaded to have fallen.

Even if it passed, does the GOP think that authorities in Gaza would be like “sure send them here.” It would be completely dependent on the Gazans authorities cooperating.

I realize this isn’t actually going to happen, but I’m just trying to wrap my head around this dude’s train of thought.

It seems like “You want to protest the killing of these people? How about you go live in the area where the killings are happening!”

Does he think that will change their minds? Like, upon arriving in Gaza, these protesters will realize the errors of their ways and agree that genocide is the best option?

Is he trying to get the protestors killed by the very thing they’re protesting? That’ll teach them!

Ignoring the logistics of the proposal, and accepting that this lawmaker has the viewpoint that the protesters should not be protesting, I still fail to understand what the desired outcome is and why this person thinks this is a fitting response. Like, this dude went through the trouble of writing this up and talking to people about it. Does he realize this makes no sense and he just wants to get his name in circulation by proposing nonsense?

I honestly think these people are drunk on outrage politics, and the extreme of “just revenge” is the whole point. They must somehow feel powerful introducing proposals of terrible cruelty.

Sure, if anyone who voted against aid for Ukraine moves to Russia and conscripted, everyone who voted against raising the minimum wage gets paid it, and everyone who complained about pronouns gets deliberately misgendered for the rest of their lives.

Fkn lol, these cunts. I don’t understand how society hasn’t run them the fuck out of our country, with whatever little regard they have for constitutional rights. Go back to russia, traitor filth.

It’s a fantastic virtue signal. They can submit a bill, they know won’t pass because of how obtuse and vague it is. They are wasting time for performative gestures to rile up their voter base.

If you support a terrorist organization, if you participate in unlawful activity on campuses, you should get a taste of your own medicine.

    Deal.

    • Who supported Saddam in Iraq?
    • Who armed rebels to attack democratic republics multiple times?
    • Who armed Syrian rebels that ended up using that equipment to attack US bases?

You might say that only opposing arm shipments to other allies is what the crime is.

Then every republican congressman and senator who denied Ukraine aid should get a one way trip to Ukraine.

I got more examples but the hypocrisy from this bill is blinding.
