Hey all… I don’t even know if this is the right community. But figured I’d ask here and worst case no one gives a response.
Anyway, two of my comments were deleted and I was banned from a community:
Banned
@StaySquared from the community Lefty Memes@lemmy.dbzer0.com reason: reactionary
The post was about how there’s no such thing was unskilled work. I commented that, “sex work” is an unskilled job. And my second comment was that it was the first thing that came to mind, that a clown creating animal-shaped balloons are more skilled than a sex worker.
I don’t understand how this is reactionary? Or how it’s defined in this community but apparently it’s bad enough to get banned for it. I wish the mod(s) would give a clear explanation, otherwise I’m going to continue breaking rules aimlessly (without realizing I’m breaking the rules).
Definition of reactionary: opposing political or social liberalization or reform.
I’m not opposing sex work. I’m defining sex work as an unskilled talent/job. If a man or woman wants to be a sex worker, good for them. I’m not offended or negatively impacted by sex workers.
So I guess the question is, how do I contact the mods or a mod of that community so they may get my defense before outright perma-banning me from the community?
I’m not sure if the reason fits the definition of reactionary, but that is a pretty awful take, which is at the least wildly ignorant, and at worst, trolling.
haha mahn your sex life must suck if you think its unskilled. hilarious
this mf gives the toothiest bjs

I wouldn’t call it “reactionary”, but I also wouldn’t define sex work as “unskilled”.
If you’ve never had bad sex, I’m happy for you. But bad sex workers aren’t going to get far. :)
Man you have 6 days old account. I had to deal with one comment as a mod, I checked the account (for other posts and comments), saw that it is exeption and just deleted it.
If I saw few days old account I would just ban it.
I mean, I don’t think what you said is ban worthy, but I understand why someone would.
Also, anyone can go bowling. Anyone can fuck. But just like bowling, if you’re doing it professionally, you have to be good.
Also, sex work isn’t just having sex transactionally, it’s shooting porn, writing erotica, drawing hentai, etc, and they all take a lot of skill too.
Good point.
In trying to understand “the rules”, you are attempting to understand human nature. In the fediverse there are no “rules”, there isn’t a governing body, instance owners and moderators essentially have “root” permissions.
Some use those for the greater good, some don’t. Some react in ways that are unexpected and unfamiliar.
In other words, be kind to your community and find a place where you can enjoy yourself. Don’t fret about the things that you cannot control.
If you absolutely need an answer, set up your own instance and be your own boss.
In the meantime, have fun.
Thanks for the response. I believe I have a better understanding now after your explanation. I will try to do better.
Thanks again for your input.
Hmm. Maybe send the mod in question a DM?
And are you permabanned? Or just for a few hours? If it’s just that, take the timeout.
I’m not sure if it’s a permaban. But I will try to reach out to the mod. Thanks for the suggestion.
Your ban in “Lefty Memes” and “Political Memes” seem to be permanent… Your ban from “World News” already expired.
First case of a ban for not getting pussy
Not a clue. But there’s plenty of other communities on Lemmy who would appreciate your participation!
Remember the days when everyone came to Lemmy because they were tired of the power-tripping that went on in Reddit?
Why do some people feel the need to bring that shit over to Lemmy? Keep it the fuck over there.
Oh but thats the pont of Lemmy. You just find an instance that supports your views, and isn’t banned by others. Or have varous accounts across instance’s. Or start a new instance. Its that easy and so much better.
So they tell me.
/s btw. But it does seem to be the Lemmy ethos.
(Also not saying I agree with OPs opinions)
Mods can and do ban for whatever they don’t like. The “rules” are there as a vague list of nonsense to appear as if there’s a general desire to have order, but at the end of the day- they’ll ban you for saying anything they disagree with.
It’s their community. And it’s there for them. Not you.
