You might want to read up on some history to find out why jews chose to leave their homes in Russia, Europe, Northern-Africa and the Ottoman Empire to congregate in one small part of the latter, where some of them already lived. That’s a bit different from, let’s say, Morocco walking into the Western Sahara to plant their flag.
