Turkey will file a request with a United Nations court on Wednesday to join South Africa’s genocide lawsuit against Israel, a Turkish official said.
The declaration of intervention will be submitted at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, the official said on condition of anonymity in accordance with regulations.
Turkey, one of the fiercest critics of Israel’s actions in Gaza, will become the latest nation to seek to participate in the case.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has frequently compared Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to Adolf Hitler, accused his country of genocide, called for it to be punished in international courts and criticized Western nations for backing Israel.
Kurdistan recognized when?
North is recognised. Terrorist claims aren’t.
Least surprised I’ve ever been to see the @lemmy.ml tag at the end of a username
I don’t get why it is downvoted even thought it’s literally Turkey’s stance. They have opened diplomatic relations with North Kurdistan, but they refuse to acknowledge any claim within their territory made by PKK, a terrorist organization.
I can find no evidence or information in the search results to support the claim that Turkey has opened diplomatic relations with “North Kurdistan,” a term not recognized as a separate entity by anyone.

Turkey should recognise their own genocide against the Armenians
And the Assyrians and the Pontic Greeks.
But I don’t want to play pontus.
Man. I wish countries didn’t only do good things in self-interest.
That being said. Rare Turkey W.
The North in the American Civil War did not fight to end slavery - though the South fought to keep slavery - the US and the USSR did not join WWII to liberate death camps, and so on.
Does not mean that it’s not a happy thing when a country’s nationalistic self interest puts it on the good side of history in a question.
I’m pretty sure that South Africa and Ireland ARE opposing Israel out of a special hatred for colonialism, genocide and Apartheid systems, though, since they were both victims of a shitload of it…
