I saw someone say it was because she’s supporting dems but that doesn’t seem like enough for the amount of dunking I’ve seen. Did y’all think she was so far to the left that that would be a betrayal? I’ve typically thought of her as a progressive more than a leftist. Is there some statement she made I’m not aware of?
Champagne socialist, IMO. Comes from wealth and privilege and makes a stupid amount from Patreon subs, most of which probably have no clue what Natalie’s net worth is. Has good opinions sometimes but I don’t know, personally I just find it weird as hell when literal millionaires act like they’re for the people while simultaneously living that bougee lifestyle because they can’t fathom living like regular folks and perhaps using their wealth to help regular folks out.
It weirds me out that a millionaire leftist sees fit to ask her working class supporters for money while hiding her net worth and how much she pulls in from Patreon each month.
I’ve gotten tons of hate for this opinion in the past and I fully expect it now, because Contrapoints has reached Breadtube royalty status.
If I’m starving and someone claiming to be my ally has a chest freezer full of steaks in their basement that they’re seemingly squirreling away… I don’t think it’s hard to see why there’s some discomfort there.
Grifters gonna grift, why do people fund them?
Because these people actively develop a parasocial relationship with their audiences.
Well i guess the grift works then lol
Don’t worry I’m sure someone will explain rationally instead of just calling you bigoted for asking this.

Homie, I don’t even know who that is. I’ve not seen anyone talking about them on lemmy or mastodon yet (haven’t scrolled much today so far though).
Gotta remember, the kind of crowd you’re asking questions to here is going to run heavy to people that don’t pay attention to the kind of person that’s not known by anything but their user name on whatever it is, if they aren’t hugely well known.
Do you have any links to help people that might be willing to try and figure out an answer despite not knowing who it is?
If you literally just use your preferential search engine you will find that the top result gives you the answer you seek to who the person OP is referring to. Just because you do not know someone does not mean that they don’t meet a specific magic threshold that needs to be met in order for someone to ask questions.
Well, they can ask anything they want, that’s fine.
But why should anyone waste their time searching for some random term?
Any given post that’s asking a question is a request for a person to spend their time doing something for the poster. There are some people willing to go the extra mile and look up things they have no interest in at all. There’s others that won’t go that far, but would look into the subject with a little groundwork already done.
In this case OP is asking about not the person themselves, but the response to that person. There’s no mention of where those responses are, and no information to help with that.
Now, there may still be people willing to look up the person, then track down whatever it is OP is talking about regarding that person catching heat, then come back and cobble together an answer. But there’s less of those than there are that would follow links and then expand a search.
I’m not asking for more information for myself to do this. IDGAF. I’m trying to guide OP to getting the answer they want, faster.
It isn’t about a magic threshold to ask. It’s about helping the crowd come up with a useful answer.
On a personal level, why the fuck would I want to search for some random person by user name? Anybody out there that’s publicly known by a user name instead of an actual name isn’t worth the time of looking up, which is extra true if the platform the user name is on isn’t known. Again, that’s for me personally; anyone else is perfectly free to do whatever they like.
I’m not even going to bother reading what you wrote.
Not every question is directed personally at you.
I think your comment was reasonable. Just wanted to add this to the other “you should have just Googled it” replies.
She’s a very popular longform video essayist.
She’s also trans, so I assume any undeserved hate stems from that.
That would explain a right wing whining binge for sure.
Is she any good? I tend not to enjoy video essays, which means me trying to evaluate that would be pointless.
Her work is pretty archetypical of video essays and I reckon she’s probably been pretty influential in helping that genre of media to form. From that, I’d guess that you might not like her stuff if you don’t click with video essays.
Much appreciated :)
Yeah, anti-zionists are pretty infamous for hating trans people.
There’s like 10 people here so not hearing it here is not a surprise lol
