A good percentage of the world’s population wouldn’t mind submitting to our new alien overlords because we’re so terrible to ourselves anyway.

I woke up this morning thinking that maybe aliens know of us and even pass through sometimes, but they don’t stop and say hello for ethical reasons.
Like maybe there is a prime directive they follow. Or perhaps they are cautious about germs; they could carry shit that could destroy us or vice versa without intending to so contact is always limited to simply observing.
Or maybe they just don’t think we’re interesting enough.
I think we may have solved the Fermi paradox (why does it seem we are alone in the universe)
Collective stupidity/insanity, and religions/cults destroy every civilization.
I have a theory. Facing the potential threat of an alien species is the only thing that could bring the human race together and actually make them stop fighting.
Except the ones OP points at, who would welcome them. No way out…
Sounds a bit like the plot of the 3 body problem (though a lot of people wanted to fight back in that)
I was about to say this and how it went in the book. Do not give up our fight. If the world is full of darkness, then we shall be the burning light.
Why do they have to be terrible?
If another species is intelligent enough to cross the vastness of space to reach us they’re going to be intelligent enough to stay far away from us or eradicate us.
And I wouldn’t blame them for either.
Planets with tons of life are rare enough. They could come and kill the gross humans who are just a nuisance, clean the planet, and keep it as a zoo. Maybe they’ll keep a few hundred humans in an alien cage for the lulz.

I think the relevant question is whether the aliens will fuck us … and whether or not it will be any good.
