That is obviously fake. I don’t even detect any real attempt to make it believable.

Bold claims, no detail, perfectly aligned with the biggest fears of what Musk could have done. Even the stupid mention of AI agents and the link to an example in documentation, as if that random stuff was evidence that was congruent with the earlier claims.

Plus they fucked up the internal consistency, despite how short the text is: In the intro our fake protagonist is a former X employee, in the third paragraph from the bottom they are saying “We’re currently doing the same thing in Germany”.

They could just be scared to release more details. Shoot I would be too. How would you do it if you had something big that you wanted to share with the world but were afraid of being put on some list or something worse? My guess would be VPN+Dark Web / Wikileaks (is there a dark web version?). Not sure if anything is full proof. I’m probably just be too weak and STFU unfortunately.

Rather thin on details or encouragement of institutions (say euro ones) to contact on details for a real whistleblower…

Though this is something that we all assumed, a “confession” like this would have been useful 6 months ago, you know, before people voted.

Now it’s too late. What do you expect will happen? You think that President Trump will jail musk for this? Come on…

It’s a crypto scheme, they’re using this AI agent project to promote their coin. This is what crypto schemes do all the time, claiming that their coin is powered by or is powering whatever latest tech buzzword thing. Few years ago it was NFTs, then the metaverse, now it’s AI agents. It’s also extremely common for them to claim to be affiliated or funded by Elon Musk, for obvious reasons.

AI agents, especially if used like the project creators are implying through this fabricated narrative, are absolutely a threat to society. But that still doesn’t mean that this narrative isn’t fabricated.

Please, please, please, don’t believe everything you read on the internet. Fact check everything, especially everything that sounds too good or too bad to be true. This is exactly how we got into the situation we’re in today, and our ability to verify information is exactly what they’re trying to take away from us.

We all saw relatives, friends and coworkers turn into conspiracy theory spouting zombies back in 2020, as they were willing to believe literally every piece of disinformation they were exposed to as long as it aligned with their fears. Then we saw many of those same people continue to spiral further into the alt-right’s destructive narrative and propaganda. We must NOT fall into the same trap. The war that we’re all fighting in today is a war for the meaning of truth.

Altering the vote would require thousands pf people working together without a single person talking about it. That isn’t likely to happen.

It is more likely Americans voted more for Trump than Harris.

I think you’re right circa a few years ago. However, as someone working in AI, I don’t think it is true any longer. I’m not saying the substack article is legit, btw, just that the fulcrum has shifted–fewer people can now do much more, aided by algorithms and boosted by AI system prompts. Especially if it’s a group internal to a company that has database access etc.

Im talking about directly changing the vote. That isn’t going to involve AI/the internet. Too much of this is verifiable offline.

Yeah, the thing about this article is that it’s extremely possible. Something even metal gear solid 2 predicted before we even reached this point.

Try looking into the actual protections in place. Most of this stuff is verifiable IRL offline and on paper for there to be direct manipulation unless ypu can get thousands of poll workers to work together in secret.

Whatever the plot of a videogame might suggest we have real ways to prevent this stuff. People voted for Trump because they believed his lies and/or wanted a change

The actual protections that have been actively worked to be dismantled constantly.

Yes they voted for him. The video game plot is irrelevant, they just talked about directing the people’s consciousness by censoring and selectively allowing information. The same thing most federated social networks are actively trying to escape, the algorithm.

In the game an AI chose what was right and wrong, creating context in a desirable light. Whether or not this article is right, it is a very real thing that is going on in the world. Not with AI, but any social media platform can skew their platform algorithms to alter what is in the populace’s consciousness.

The same way TV has been used for decades.

We completely changed how the algorithm worked, pushing pro-Trump and right-wing posts to the top of people’s feeds.

I thought this was common knowledge. Users have been talking about how everyone is getting flooded with right-wing posts on r/twitter ever since Elon took over.

This also explains why he changed the name to a non-descriptive name of X.

Propaganda/information warfare 101, you want the name of your agent spreading disinformation to be as vague and as ambiguous as possible in the people’s discourse in general.

that’s a bit much, i mean he’s been obsessed with the idea of “X” since the 90s. his first company was called x dot com, he made the space company he bought change their name to space x, the most gimmicky car he could persuade Tesla to build in the early days was the model x, he has like seven x wives…

I went through most of the linked documentation, and the only thing that i was able to find was under https://elizaos.github.io/eliza/docs/advanced/eliza-in-tee/ in the docker-compose.yaml

    ...
            environment:
                - REDPILL_API_KEY=$REDPILL_API_KEY
                - SMALL_REDPILL_MODEL=anthropic/claude-3-5-sonnet
                - MEDIUM_REDPILL_MODEL=anthropic/claude-3-5-sonnet
                - LARGE_REDPILL_MODEL=anthropic/claude-3-opus
    ...
                - TWITTER_DRY_RUN=false
                - TWITTER_USERNAME=$TWITTER_USERNAME
                - TWITTER_PASSWORD=$TWITTER_PASSWORD

which tracks with elons shitty type of humor. in the screenshot “Click on the Logs tab to view the agent logs” there is a timestamp: 2024-12-07, which, if it uses american style, would give credence to the statement that elon had earlier access to the ELIZA Agent.

I didn’t find anything else, but i must admit that i am tired as hell and might have

It’s fairly easy to tell there is plenty of interference from tech giants but an anonymous blog post and the existence of json character card format is not the proof I’d be looking for.
