He’s right. There just isn’t the political will in the population to reopen the topic of Brexit now. Whether anyone likes it or not, the things British people really care about right now, in no particular order, are:

• Inflation

• House & utility & food prices

• Immigration

• NHS waiting lists & more dentists

• Train infrastructure.

People can make very legitimate arguments linking Brexit to those issues, but it’s not politically viable to open that can of worms again. They just really want their lives to improve for the first time in over a decade.

There are plenty of new age wuwu types that do define reality as a god. If I thought they had any legitimacy I wouldn’t be an atheist, but the core idea is that we essentially exist as constructs within the imagination of this god.

No, but most people do think of Reality as a god.

But they don’t think He is a god

These two statements directly contradict eachother. Either you think of Reality as a god, or you do not. If you don’t think reality is a god, then you don’t think “he” is a god (wow, the tautology was weird to type).

Also, there are many examples of religious people who don’t think reality is a god. Deists, for example, believe that god showed up, made the universe, and left. Under that belief system, the deist god and the universe it created are two entirely separate things.

There’s also pantheons, where gods exist within their own higher reality with their own set of rules, limitations and powers that interact with our reality. Reality (either ours or the supernatural plane in these belief systems) are clearly separate from the gods operating under these rules.

People are perfectly capable of worshipping, praying to, and generally being religious towards someone they refuse to believe is a god.

For Romania, this is exactly the issue. The political situation is pretty crazy, we have a political party called AUR which is the worst reactionary tinfoil hat collection of crazies, very reminiscent of extreme US republicans. They are currently a fringe party, but growing. The mainstream socially conservative party (PSD, a socialist party… long story) don’t want to lose voters to the crazies, so they have to portray themselves as anti-LGBT. An alliance of socially progressive and economically liberal parties (PNL, USR+) is currently in power, and want to concentrate on how amazing the economy is and freeze social issues because they’re too divisive to win elections on.

TL;DR: Romanian politics are an absolute mess.

Romania is a messy country for LGBTIQ people. Generally speaking, LGBQ are accepted (trans people absolutely not), but the government tried to pass a constitutional amendment a few years back to solidify marriage as strictly between a man and a woman. Thankfully, it failed because the general population shunned the referendum so that it couldn’t get the required 50% turnout for it to be valid.

Positive steps are few and far between, but thankfully it isn’t backsliding.

Should be an option to allow/disallow non-instance users to vote. That’d be really useful here in sh.itjust.works for the Agora.

I’ve never understood the whole US credit score system, it’s honestly pretty baffling. Don’t get me wrong, we have credit scores here too, but they’re something for experts doing risk assessment to do in bulk, not for individual consumers.

Cheese is literally addictive

I’m aware, but I don’t eat cheese out of choice. The times I do eat cheese are because I’m in a restaurant with family/friends and my options are being hungry the whole night, eating meat, or eating a salad with cheese in it. With those options, I take the cheese. Again, I don’t eat cheese at home.

Not the same person, but I’m in a similar position, just further along. Getting meat out of my diet was actually really trivial. Cheese is the big problem.

Fully vegan when I cook at home, but vegan options in restaurants and fast food are non-existent where I live, so I have cheese whenever I eat out. I’ve also come to terms with the fact I can never be fully vegan because I have 2 cats who need their cat food.
