Always hate it When Day Breaks.
Just had a weeklong beach vacation. We sat on the beach once for about half an hour before the sun was too much. We mostly just took morning and evening walks on the beach. We’re not really swimmers either, which was good because the surf was fucking lethal pretty much every day. Once day the waves were reaching the dunes and pooling past the high-tide line. Kids were constantly swimming and it was incredibly dangerous. I think most days were red flag and the “nice” ones were yellow.
The beach is pretty awful these days and we aren’t even that far south.
Why would you hold self-driving cars to a standard that we don’t hold drivers? If you are a driver and realize you are about to harm a pedestrian, there is no circumstance when the law suggests you ram a car into a building or pole instead of the pedestrian. Your insurance would rather you hit the pedestrian, usually. Because in an animal strike, hitting the animal is comprehensive (in America) and swerving to hit a fence is collision. You can’t be at fault for comprehensive. A pedestrian is a different mater and not comprehensive, but they’d rather you mitigate liability, and then mitigate cost. And there’s a chance the pedestrian was at fault, at least partially. The building/pole can’t be.
But all of this is a moot point. Self-driving cars will NEVER be programmed to harm the driver before an outside person. Simply for the fact no one will ever buy or ride in a car that chooses to kill the passenger over others. No one will ride in the Suicide Car.
Indeed! New thoughts and ideas all the time.
I’m getting old and I’m getting swirlyer every day.
Fuck yeah. I wish I could get my friends to play this mod with me.
Are you somehow equating my opinion with an objective fact? Boring can’t be objective, it’s different for everyone.
Did they ever increase flying or running speed? About the time I got the saddle for flying I realized how painfully slow max movement speed was.
People have been trending away from random online interactions for decades. With good reason. As populations increased the ability to police behavior plummeted. Negative interactions skyrocketed and now few people want to chance abuse with it being so common.
It’s also partly what you said: people want to get stuff done. I remember EverQuest 1 and Nexus. You couldn’t do shit solo. People generally want to be able to actually play the game and accomplish something and they don’t always have 30-60 min to look for a group before they can start playing.
It’s a very different market these days and people have a lot of things they can do with their time. Playing chat roulette to play a game doesn’t cut it.
Of course not. The plagiarism comparisons were overblown and no one can copyright the basic idea anyways.
They are also just a fad and generally a boring game with a lot of faults. They aren’t a threat.
Corrected my first post. I don’t just but deep sales. I only buy games at full price of marginal sales if I want to play them immediately.
I love all these kind of stories. Pascal’s Wager, Sin’s Plate, this sneaky ravioli.
They all contend that you can trick god. The same god who is both omniscient and omnipotent.
I don’t know if any of those are serious or just jests that became tradition but they are amusing.
I have stopped buying games that aren’t on 90% off sales, and even then mostly stopped. I only buy a game that I want to play immediately. I have way too much to do and play and it’s not worth building a backlog since I’ll just forget it anyways.
Long gone are the days of super sales where 75-95% off were common.
Edit: clarification: I buy very cheap games for my backlog and buy games full price as long as I want to play them right now.
They’re really just video game toy stores and have been for years.
We have never rejected fanaticism.
The revolution was built on fanatical ideas and ideals of American exceptionalism and where was propaganda to support that.
The civil was started primarily because the wealthy didn’t want to give up free labor (slaves) but a lot of individuals supported it because they felt the big scary northern government was attacking their homes and they had to defend them and their way of life (still, slavery,).
Pretty much every war is sold based on fanaticism. The Spanish American war was wholesale created by yellow journalism. The world wars were a bit different because America was very isolationist then and it needed a push.
Overall America isn’t an exception here. Most humans need to be fanatical to really do big things like war or revolution.
My work does. But it’s not business hours. It’s like 9-3. It’s when they suggest most people be available for meetings, calls. So when people flex their schedules, they’d prefer it if most people were still available at that time.
In 2022, Endacott unsuccessfully ran in a local election under the Conservative Party
Of course an AI tech grifter would be a Tory.
Making a road with shops and services pedestrian-only will greatly increase foot traffic and people shopping there. Now people will walk down the street and stop in places they happen to find. In cars people who to know about it and specifically choose to go there.
Linux users are not your audience. Owners of the Steam Deck are. I’d wager the vast majority of Deck users do not have a computer that runs Linux. You don’t really need to know how to do anything in Linux even in desktop mode. The environment is so similar to mac and windows for most tasks.
He’s just pissy about the idea of designing anything that would benefit Steam; the heavyweight he has tried and failed to emulate.
I need to go back and beat this game. It’s so good.
