I’ve been noticing bad math in the Uber driver app lately.

There have been a few times it tells me my ETA is 12 minutes but I’m 16 miles away. Like I know it doesn’t think I’m gonna be doing these residential streets at 90 mph

That’s literally not what this picture depicts.

They’re not “defending a nazi salute”. They’re saying the awkward gesture wasn’t one.

This community exists by the sloppy perception of its readers. You want to be surrounded by Nazis (clearest form of moral imperative from history — for those who’ve only scratched the surface of studying history — providing an easy direction for your life) so badly that you’re willing to ignore the evidence directly in front of your eyes.

The screenshot in this post literally disproves the claim in the title. This is the essence of doublespeak: contradictions in the smallest possible footprint, laid out glaringly and consumed with eager approval.

Dunkin is a franchise, so the local owner should have the ultimate authority on this policy.

Amen. This Dunkin endangered a customer relationship over a triviality.

For Dunkin’ Donuts as such, that one interaction is a single cell in an enormous crystal of interactions. Dunkin should write a procedure for this particular case because it’s going to happen millions of times.

And their procedure, to keep those thousands of customers, should be to fill up the cup.

This is exactly the problem with most retail employees: they treat everyone like the small fraction of scammers that exist.

If it were my coffee shop, I’d just spend the few cents to fill that cup and I wouldn’t treat it as a problem until a significant portion of people were obviously gaming the system.

Penny pinching just gives off the impression that one doesn’t care about one’s customers.

In my opinion, commerce is a platform upon which community takes place. The people are the point.

I’d kill for one that was positioned so I could see it. I keep my steering wheel low and my hands cover the speedometer.

Nope, not like that either. The science shows it’s gonna destroy human habitats along the coastline, if no mitigating steps are taken such as they have been in the netherlands and new orleans (dikes to hold back rising sea levels).

That’s about it for the negative effects.
