Please stop whatever is making me a moderator.

Edit: Someone unpinned this. I’m going to unmod myself now. Let’s see how this goes.

Fun reddit story: The reason you have to accept an invite to mod a sub there is because a few years back someone started a crab bucket subreddit and if anyone left everyone else would just readd them. Admins got pissed lol.

I got made a moderator of Lemmy Shitpost one day and no one even told me it had happened. But I rolled with it.

Really though, no one is forcing you to do moderation work just because you have an M by your name. If you don’t want to do mod stuff, just don’t do it. Pretty much no one will care.

I see your point, but I don’t want to be listed as a moderator here, and it shouldn’t be a difficult ask. I’m not listed as a moderator on the other twenty thousand (or however many) lemmy communities I don’t mod, not sure why this would be any different. In addition, I have got no response from the moderator who seems to be the only active one.

Edit: Look at that list. I suspect many didn’t ask for it. Seems a little dangerous since one of them might want to do something more disruptive than just pin a post complaining about being a mod.

Fair enough. If that mod is in this thread and needs mods for this community, I’ll be happy to add it to the list of communities I moderate.
