This is what it’s like making jokes on the internet in general these days. Say something that is clearly absurd for the sake of humor, and then get hit with a ton of “um achtually…” responses.
True… But… How would a Koala not have Koalafications, but a bear does?
It’s a very polarbearizing issue.
It’s purely nepotism. You have have the right parents to be a bear.
Grizzlies always have the bear necessities needed to get a job done
Because going through college is a grizzly process
Because they’re high all the time and dont study.
For bears, “bear necessities” can be considered analogous to koalafications in koalas.
Koalas are too nearsighted.
That’s not what happened in the scenario above, is it?
Asking ‘why aren’t koalas considered bears?’ isn’t clearly absurd.
If they’d said the punchline and then the other person said well actually they’re marcupials, then fair enough. That just isn’t what happened here though.
That is one of the drawbacks of not having to carry a dictionary around … ever again!

Yeah but if you let something like that stop you from saying the punchline you probably shouldn’t be dating neurodivergent people
yea :3 the punchline makes the joke obvious and we will still laugh at it
Or worse - if you’re like me, you spend 10 minutes after the joke to talk more about bears, koalas, marsupials, the entire evolution of bears, because they brought up what you thought was an interesting question.

Eh, she might have genuinely not realized that he’s attempting a joke. You do need to bring across in your voice+expression that you’re being humorous, otherwise it sounds like a normal question, and if they’re on a party or such, that can be difficult.
Not to mention that if she’s a biology student, the info that koalas are marsupials probably makes it quicker to her head than the realization that he’s joking.
I saw this and then asked my fiance the same setup question. She replied, “because they’re marsupials?”
I then showed her this post as the punchline.
Down voted this one for the weird anti-educated tone to the joke. It wasn’t even necessary for the joke. Just odd to include it.

Besides their being marsupially unkoalafied, they get high on eucalyptus over cocaine every hour of the day.
Edit: bears: cocaine. They have no interest or güt microbe help to dig eucalyptus like Koalas do
