The reason why I’m asking this question is because I do love reading yuri hentai doujinshi everyday and I personally do not care about what two consenting adults are doing in the privacy of their own home.
I just do not want to support the lgbt community because I think those people are weirdos. But I don’t think that what they’re doing is morally wrong. Similar to incest. I think a brother and a sister that are both consenting adults being in an incestuous relationship with eachother is not morally wrong as long as they do not have a child together. But I still think that they’re weirdos for doing that.
I don’t think incest and being gay are equivelant. Beyond the biological issues, there is an inherent power dynamic in families that make it difficult AF to judge consent. Meanwhile, there’s no inherent issues in LGBT relationships.
I find that people who think “the LGBT community are weird” are the weird ones. What’s so weird about it? If it’s different from what you find normal, then that’s a reflection on you more than them.
But weirder still are the people so fixated on hating the LGBT community that they attack them, demonise them, strip away their rights, and all that stuff. If you oppose weirdos, then oppose those ones. The bar is so low right now that that counts as being supportive.
You don’t need to support it, but you don’t need to say it’s weird either. You can just go about your day.
I think people who believe in crystals, horoscopes, ghosts, God are weird. People who put ketchup on eggs are weird. Dave Matthews fans are weird.
But I have better things to use my energy on that worrying about what other people enjoy.
Why do you think gay people are weirdos?
And specifically what kind of “weirdo”? If you only meant that they are relatively uncommon, that’s obviously true, but I suspect you mean something more significant than merely “there are fewer of them than cishet folks”.
I think anyone that is parading on the streets wearing skimpy outfits and celebrating and their sexual orientation are weirdos.
But I don’t think gay men or lesbian women are weirdos. I think that gay men and lesbian women should have the right to get married.
But the lgbt community having a pride parade about their sexual orientation is just really weird in my opinion. Because it doesn’t matter if your straight, bisexual, gay or lesbian if you make your entire sexual orientation your personality then yeah you are a weirdo in my opinion.
without acceptance, there can’t be equality
without a conversation, there can’t be acceptance
without awareness, there can’t be a conversation
without activists, there can’t be awarenessright now, there is a severe lack of acceptance, and the conversation is toxic.
unfortunately this is a necessity, if it wasn’t needed, it wouldn’t be done.So I guess Brazilians are weirdos because they parade in carnaval dancing around and in skimpy outfits :)
I think from the comments you have written that you need to reevaluate the meaning of what support of the lgbtq community means. Support is supporting their right to have the private life and sexual orientation they have without being punished for it. I think you are already at that point. You support that community.
Maybe you don’t agree with the parades and find them excessive and weird, but those parades are there as a response to those that don’t support them and would prefer to hide them (or worse). And I’m sure those parades have given a bunch of people the courage to admit and accept their own sexuality as they saw there was nothing wrong with it.
In other words, the support they need has nothing to do with the parades, you can be supportive and disagree on the parades, but at the end of the day, the best you can do is ignore the parades.
I guess I should have clarify what I mean by that I don’t think gays and lesbians are weirdos. I just think people in the lgbt community are weirdos because of the pride parades.
Not all gay men and lesbian women are supportive of the lgbt community. There are some gay men and lesbians women that do not support the lgbt community simply because they feel like the pride parade that the lgbt community does is a little too far. And they think calling trans women women or trans men men is stupid and calling people that are not trans Cis is also stupid.
Your heart’s in the right place, but I think you need to learn more about the LGBT community. Stuff that doesn’t come from sources trying to paint it as sinful or a corrruption of society.
Honestly, a lot of anti-LGBT talk is just an evolution of anti-woman talk. They were oppressed and made to feel shame for who they are, and then they decided they weren’t going to take it anymore. There is no shame. Only pride.
Misogynists tried to demonise the entire feminist movement by saying “look at those radical feminists who just hate men. They’re all ugly and weird!” Looking back, a lot of the men who did that were projecting hard, since they were rarely attractive or sensible themselves.
Then a bunch of women who listened to those misogynists a little too much took the lessons to heart, not wanting to hate women but being taught they should. So they say “I can’t support feminism because of those radicals”, or “I’m not like other girls, I’m one of the good ones!” It’s still misogyny. It’s just a self-serving sort.
But all it takes to be feminist is to think women should have equal rights to men. And all it takes to support the LGBT community is to say they shouldn’t be persecuted for being who they are.
I agree that do not know much about the lgbt community. Because the only time I see them is when the have those massive pride parades in downtown Toronto. I do not have any friends that I’m aware of are gay or lesbian. Because I never ask anyone of my friends what their sexual orientation is because it’s just not any of my business to know that.
Do you know why the pride marches started?
No
Well maybe you should find out.
The raids and subsequent protests are an important part of history.
first pride was a riot. In my country it still is. We have to fight for our rights
In short:
Yes.
I just do not want to support the lgbt community
Flip this around: do you want to support the straight community? Do you want to watch men and women parading around together in skimpy outfits on beaches, or showing off their sex-trophies in public? Do you want to constantly be seeing straight people slobber all over each other in public, or any of that bullshit?
You want gay people to hide, to not be out in public; that’s the first step towards pushing them back in the closet, and criminalizing their conduct. We’re not that far removed from the days when it was illegal to be gay in public.
Absolutely not I do not want to see straight women and straight men parading on the streets wearing skimpy outfits and telling everyone how much they love being straight. Because that is just very weird.
And I think if a straight woman or straight man is making their sexual orientation their entire personality then I also think that they are weirdos.
Because I do not make my sexual orientation my entire personality.
You ever go to a beach? See people with children? Men and women holding hands, or being affectionate in public? Because when you’re straight, every day is straight pride day. No one thinks twice about people being straight.
What about a Mardi Gras or Carnivale parade? Straight people absolutely do that shit.
…But people freak the fuck out over gay people doing exactly the same things that straight people do.
Gay Pride is about acceptance. You don’t have to go to Pride, but not wanting to support it because you think it’s “weird” that they want to be accepted? Yeah, that’s absolutely bad. I don’t like the Folsom Street Fair, but I absolutely support the right of the people to do that, as long as everyone involved is consenting.
For anyone not aware, this is a troll attempt. They’ve already done the same thing elsewhere.
yeah. Many homophobic people are only okay with queer people if they’re invisible. They don’t care that they’re gay unless they conform in public, as long as they don’t show affection towards their partners in public. They don’t care about trans people as long as they pass and look indistinguishable from cis people. We don’t wanna be shunned for being different and pride parade’s that you mentioned are a great way to give the mesage “we are here, we exist”. I grew up in a very conservative country but when I traveled to germany in june and got caught in pride celebrations with pride flags everywhere etc. I never felt more accepted, I felt that I wasn’t alone. So this “we’re here we exist” message that pride spreads is not just helpful to get the non-lgbtq folks aquainted with the idea of us existing but also tell the other lgbtq people that they’re not alone. I also don’t wanna be invisible for anyone’s convenience.
I’m totally fine with gay couples and lesbian couples kissing and holding hands together I’m public.
But what I do not like are people in the parading on the streets wearing skimpy outfits and telling everyone how much they love being whatever sex orientation that they’re because that just really weird in my opinion.
if a straight woman and straight man were parading on the streets together wearing skimpy outfits and telling everyone how much they love being straight. Then I also think that they’re weirdos.
Because I do not make my sexual orientation my entire personality.
A lack of support is not bad because it’s the default position and everyone starts there. But many communities are centered around some specific thing and want all posts to remain on topic and supportive.
