The only stories about this I’ve seen on Lemmy take a very pro-Israel perspective. Have the Israelis started doing to Lemmy what they’ve done to Reddit?

NBC’s coverage, as an alternative, says this immediately after it’s opening statement:

Videos circulating on social media showed violence in the city’s streets, with one video geolocated by NBC News to near Amsterdam’s central station appearing to show people chasing others and physically assaulting them. Separate video geolocated by NBC News showed Maccabi Tel Aviv fans in Amsterdam singing “Death to the Arabs” and “Let the IDF win. We will f*** the Arabs,” as well as tearing down a Palestinian flag.

…which clarifies that the attack was the people of Europe showing that unlike their governments, they do not tolerate genocidal apartheid supporters.

Considering there’s a lot of Morocco Arabs in the Netherlands, that’s a bold move for sure.

LOL, there is no other perspective.

Israel warned Dutch authorities days prior because of what they had seen on social media. Dutch police warned Israeli fans to avoid taxis because they knew the taxi drivers were coordinating an attack. There are now screen grabs starting to circulate of text exchanges in taxi driver chat groups talking about how to avoid police and hanging up Palestinian flags to incite a response. This was a planned, coordinated pogrom. Fans were beaten unconscious, run over by cars, and chased into the canal to escape, with the mob screaming, “Say free Palestine and we’ll leave.” https://x.com/stop_jew_hate/status/1854881566553411612

This is the funniest cope I’ve ever seen for ‘my countries ultras tried to start shit with non-football hooligans and got their asses kicked.’

Fighting people who aren’t women and children without total air superiority isn’t that easy, is it?

Right, because we all know mainstream media like the BBC isn’t biased. This is the same news organization that published an article complaining about the environmental impact of the IDF whereas the Hamas rockets are much better for the environment. Fucking joke.

What does this have to do with BBC? Their coverage on the Israeli hooligans had headlines that at a glance made the responses of local sound anti-Semitic; they didn’t lead with the instigation.

Hopefully, the European powers that be will start realizing that Israel isn’t a part of us and we don’t want that Zionist hatred on our streets. Maybe leave it in Israel next time and behave in a civilized manner. Honestly, i don’t want to see football with them or Eurovision with them either.

I’d be ashamed every day if i had to wake up as an Israeli. What a disgrace of a people. Judaism will always have a place in modern Europe but anti Palestinian sentiment does not and i wonder how much longer until both the powers that be and the international community at large realizes European leadership and the European people are not of the same mind when it comes to Israel.

Israelis should be able to attend sporting events, and cheer on their team internationally, just like everyone else, without the fear of violence.

A 30-year-old Maccabi Tel Aviv fan describes the moments of horror: “I finished a four-month reserve in Gaza, and what I experienced here is no less scary. There is a war out here. They ran over me and pulled a knife on me. I am slightly injured, but I am not ready to receive treatment here, only in Israel. We were ambushed. I’m in the market. I saw with my own eyes children who were caught in explosions. They are everywhere. No police, complete chaos. Everything was pre-planned. The police here abandoned us. Every fourth person walking the street is a Muslim who has come to attack Jews. Me and several hundred other fans are surrounded in the hotel, the police don’t allow us to leave. They just want to fly home.”

Wonder what he did in those 4 months. I bet you it was a lot worse than what he got here.
