    Same with choosing a country.

I remember when the internet was enough us-centric (or accurately localized) so “United States of America” was at the top of the list. Now I have to scroll way to the bottom. I guess I can’t argue about the fairness of it, but it’s still annoying.

With all the annoyances of everything needing to be thousands of JavaScript modules instead of a simple html page, can’t we get something useful out of it, like a localized country list where everyone gets theirs on top?

And then being from England being constantly guessing because I have no idea whether the drop down is going to list England, United Kingdom, Great Britain, or what.

Each of which refer to actually different geographical regions, but okay.

Trump will sign an executive order stating United States must be the first country in all UI selection widgets.

Wait until you find out that you can type the first letter and it will jump to that position in the list. Then - check this shit out - you can keep pressing that letter to jump through each item in the list. It takes me like 3 seconds.

Now, hold onto your hats, because you won’t believe what you can do when picking your state…

Fortunately you’ll move much further up the list alphabetically since you’re rapidly becoming the Fascist States of America.

You can often press “U” to go to countries starting with “U”, saving a bit of scrolling. If you didn’t already know that.

The extra layer to this is using a pic of the show with Bob Barker, even though Drew Carrey will be coming up on 18 years hosting the show this fall.

And drew, though I like him a lot, is a way shittier host for the price is right. I only know Drew Carrey from the drew Carrey show, from which Mimi was the actual star… so you can date me how you like and it may or may not be more accurate than carbon dating.

I was once filling a online form for my dad and made a joke about how much I have to scroll to get to his birth year and now I feel bad about it as I have to do the same for myself

I have this on one of the digicams I own. I don’t think the designers ever considered that it would still be used in the year of our lord 2025. It’s probably from 2010 or something, and it has this horrendous touch UI for selecting the date. You have to press down like 15 times to get to 2025, but due to the laggy unresponsive UI and touchscreen, this is quite the journey. Obviously it forgets the date whenever I take the battery out to charge it.

I know the little thing isn’t sentient, but I still like to imagine it getting more and more astounded as the years increment further and further in the date selector.

All joking aside I’ve just scrolled random amount on scrolling ones and just hit ‘end’ on dropdowns for decades.

Anything that really needs my actual birthday has a proper method of authenticating who I am.
