Cool story. Lots of threads about things I haven’t heard of, I don’t feel the need to comment as such on every single one of them. Shrug
Damn, if only OP provided you with a link or something that could tell you all about it…
Please tell me what exactly you disagree with.

I switched to Linux last week and I haven’t had any issues with my Steam games. Just had to turn on the setting to have Steam provide Linux support for games that don’t provide it themselves.
You tried it 12 years ago. So before Windows 8 came out? Think of how much Windows has changed in that time. Linux distros have changed as well, but they have focused on usability with each change.
I installed Linux Mint last week. I was waiting until I had a 2nd drive to install it on so I could still have windows if needed.
It was easier to install than windows ever was, and easier to find help to do the things I want. It makes a world of difference when your OS isn’t actively fighting you all the time. I even had an easier time connecting to my media tower over the network (which is still on Windows) and accessing its files than I ever had trying to connect to it from a Windows machine.
I haven’t touched my windows drive once since I installed Mint and I’m planning on taking it off to free up my SSD.

How much work they were getting done is explicitly, pointedly NOT the metric they were fired for.
Why would a mouse jiggler be effective for any reason unless it was a metric being measured?
Or at the very least detect when you can’t skip and mute the tab and put a black box over top of the video.
So is my work measured by how much I move the mouse? In my job if I used an automatic mouse jiggler it would have zero effect on my employment, because I’m not being employed to move my mouse, I’m being employed to do productive work.
It’s insane that such a program was useful. If your boss doesn’t know the difference between you working or not, and only knows how much your mouse moves, that is a shit boss who is terrible at their job.
Were they not getting enough done?
If not then fire them for that. Seems like a better metric that’s more related to how well they do their job than “how much has your mouse moved?”
I meant indistinguishable to the software. If the ad comes from the same source, and doesn’t inhibit playback controls (such as fast forward), then it is significantly more difficult for an add-on to block it. Of course that would mean users can just fast forward if they don’t want to watch it.
YouTube has two options:
Inject the ad into the stream making it indistinguishable from the video. This allows users to skip it if they don’t want to watch it. (I would prefer this honestly)
Try to force users to watch ads by making them unskippable, this makes them easy for add-ons to detect.
operations as fast forwarding(etc) will be disabled as long as an ad is playing.
That would be easy for an add-on to detect and if nothing else mute the tab and cover the video until operational control is restored. A button I could click to “pause video once ad is finished” would make this a convenient time for me to step away.
So if the ad is injected directly into the stream does that mean users don’t need an ad blocker and can just fast forward through the ads? I’m fine with that.
Can’t embarrass yourself if you’re incapable of feeling shame.
Do those programs not work on WINE?
