I’ll do you one better, nuclear families are a scam. We operated as communal societies for most of mankind’s existence. But now we are expected to not only stay with one partner but to raise kids on our own as well. It forces us to work harder and more importantly for the establishment buy more products since we share less.

As a married person, I don’t agree with your opinion (warranting an upvote) and this had me chuckling. I like your laconic phrasing.

It seems to me like you just dont understand how most people enjoy life and want them to be miserable like you. You’ve been all over this community with pretty out there and brain dead takes recently.

I don’t get why. In my country marriage doesn’t convey any legal or tax benefits over common law relationships so there’s no point in doing it.

But you also don’t lose anything by doing it, so I don’t see how you’re being scammed.

Marriage can end in some horror stories.
I worked with a guy who had a wife and two kids, the two kids part is important for some reason. He was a hard working dude who bought the house next to his parents and renovated it over the years. He suspected that she was cheating on him but didn’t do anything. They got a divorce at some point soon after. She got the house and the kids and was dead broke and had to move to his parents bext door. He told me he gets to witness her borderline sex parties from next door while his children were there as well. He wasn’t allowed to see his children except every other weekend because she had a vagina.
Almost same story with some guy i knew. He had a well paid pharma job and bought a house with her wife. She was a housewife, so in reality he bought the house. They got divorced and she got the house and a shit ton of money monthly, which i never understood. He was so broke with a very good job that he couldn’t afford a phone or a car anymore. She sould the house and moved to her new boyfriend who lived pretty far away. He told me that she did that on purpose, because there was no way for him to see the kids anymore, since no car and no money for public transportation. I was pretty shocked and didn’t really know what to say and asked what the plan is now for the next 14 or so years. He said he crunched the numbers and if he took a second job, he ends up with even less money because he has to pay more. Since he didn’t have a phone anymore, i went to his parents house where he had to live to tell him that he can have my car if he needs it to see his kids. His mom told me that he killed himself.

These are some extremes, but what for?

Nearly every guy who tells you that his ex-wife left him and took his kids and won’t let him see them isn’t telling you the whole story. Either there is a very good reason he can’t see his kids, or he never bothered to try, but he’ll never tell you that.
