Where’s @FlyingSquid@lemmy.world with a Riker trombone pic when you need them?
Here ya go. I normally only do a Riker in News communities.
I love this recurring post. Please keep it up.
Technology isn’t news?? 😩
Good. Fuck Lemon Musk and his floral scent.
Nobody wants to do business with unstable nazis.
There are stable ones?
There are stable geniuses, but I want nothing to do with them.
moooom I’m seeing Nazis everywhere again
Lmao
Nobody wants to do business with
unstablenazis.More like
Nobody wants to do business with unstable
nazispeoplePlenty of businesses ready and willing to do business with stable (and rich) Nazis, dictators and slavers. Look at the line of people and businesses more than ready to make deals with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, China, etc
If you are rich and have a stable government, there’s no amount of human rights violations and genocides stopping corrupt fuckers from trying to make deals with you and profit.
How I wish that were true.
Nah, plenty of people want to do business with nazis. Unfortunately.
Summary:
- Nintendo has discontinued support for X (formerly Twitter) integration on the Nintendo Switch console.
- The reason for pulling support is likely due to pricing changes to the X API, which now starts at $42,000 a month for enterprise customers.
- Microsoft and Sony also removed X integration from their consoles (Xbox and PS5/PS4) last year, but didn’t specify the reason.
- Slack, a communication platform, also pulled support for X integration due to the API updates impacting its functionality.
- Console gamers will no longer be able to connect directly with X, despite the X Gaming account claiming that its “partnership with Nintendo remains strong” in a now-deleted post.
Interesting that X only pays you that much to include their integratio-
Oh, they want YOU to pay THEM…!?
$42,000 a month
Fucks sake
Ha ha! Fuck you Elon. Way to make your shitty platform irrelevant faster.
I would be interested to know how much of Twitter’s use was from these integrations. This could be an absolute drop in the bucket.
I used this exclusively to get screenshots off my switch easily. Still very happy about bigger companies cutting ties with the muskrat.
Getting screenshots or videos off the Switch is laughably arcane. Nintendo is so weird about modern tech conveniences.
It took Nintendo years to enable Bluetooth on the switch. The same tech the pro controller and joycons use. Years. Modders had it nearly day one of opening the console.
How do I get a screenshot to my phone?
- Turn off WiFi, enable it to make a temp local wifi, scan a QR code. Then open a web page and download them.
PlayStation and Xbox:
- You can just upload them to the network you already pay for, or put them on a flash drive.
Steam Deck: Syncthing automatically sends them to my computer :)
This is a great thing.
There need to be material consequences for Nazism.
I think it’s more that it costs money to use the Twitter API now.
Dammit! And here I was thinking corporations had suddenly developed a conscience that put decency above profit… Stupid stupid stupid me. /s
I’ve never used Twitter, but I’ve heard that it’s just a porn site nowadays. Is that accurate?
It was before, too.
So X is shorthand for Nazi right?
At what point were we all on Microsoft/Nintendo/Sega’s side wtf?
Everyone sucks here.
All three? Surely you must be forgetting OUYA, KFC and Soulja Boy!
all three? what about soulja boy? as long as he’s still supporting it they’ll be fine
You love to see it! Stand with trans folks ❤️
I’m not a gamer or a xitterhead but what would these consoles do with xitter integration.
For Nintendo, it was the only way to upload your screenshots to the internet if you don’t have a PC or phone with an SD slot. The other consoles have other integration you could use for images (and they all have YouTube for video) so this kinda sucks for Switch owners that have literally no other way of getting their screenshots online.
Nope there’s a feature that lets you download the screenshot to your phone wirelessly
Yeah, and it’s extremely janky.
It is. Last time I needed a screenshot I tried that, it never worked and I ended up removing the SD and reading from it.
For uploading game clips I’d assume
Sharing screenshots and video captures.
The only place where I tried to use it was on Xbox back when Xbox One first came out, and I didn’t like the way it worked back then, so I didn’t really use it much. It didn’t send the actual media to Twitter, it posted a link to the file, and Xbox screenshots got deleted after 30 days. If I wanted to properly post it so that the media was actually hosted on Twitter, I had to save the full res media anyway.
(In fact actually saving full resolution Xbox screenshots used to be needlessly difficult. Only much later they added a way to save screenshots to OneDrive, which occasionally worked, and only very recently they decided they don’t bother with the Xbox screenshot hosting at all and auto-upload everything to OneDrive.)
So… Mastodon integration instead I hope?
With each company hosting their own mastodon instance! We can bring back console wars with federation/defederation
